10 Ways To Get More Traffic To Your Site

Ask anyone about how to get more traffic to your site, and they’ll tell you at least 100 different ways you can do this. However, even though there may be that many ways to get traffic to your website, there may be a few you’ve overlooked.

Here are ten ways you can start getting more traffic to your site without it costing you and arm and a leg.

Share On Your Facebook WallI know this may sound like a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised how many people forget to do this. Although it may not be a lot of traffic at first, it is certainly a good start.

Start a Twitter Contest – This could be a traffic tip you haven’t heard of before. I couldn’t possibly cover all the details about this in this short post, but there as an awesome blog post over at Mashable that does.

YouTube Video – Upload a How To or Informational video at YouTube with a link coming back to your website. If your video should go viral, than the amount of traffic coming to your site could be incredible! Speaking of viral videos…

Viral Video Marketing – When creating your video, think of something totally unique, “drop dead” funny or even controversial to share. Don’t do what everyone else is doing, be original and think outside the box. For example, I watched a video one time where this guy looked exactly like a news anchorman on the news. However, even though he looked dead serious and never cracked a smile while talking, the stuff coming out of his mouth was hilarious. Honestly, I don’t know he kept a straight face through the entire 10 minute video, it was that funny.

Figure out what works best for you and run with it!

Optimize your site – Optimizing your site for search engines (SEO) – will increase your chances of getting more traffic to your website, simply because the content on your site matches those keywords and phrases people use when performing a search. Just remember, the content on your site is more important than the keywords you may enter in your site code. Most search engines do not even take those into consideration any more.

Be Consistent – By posting to your blog consistently, it conditions people to the days and times that you usually post. The end result is that they will begin “keeping an eye out” for your article to arrive.

It’s Okay to Stray – Don’t be apprehensive about straying from your usual topics and post something about current events, for example. And if you can tie that event into something related to what you usually post about, that’s okay too. Another reason is that most people search for something related to a current event almost daily, which can get more traffic coming to your site also.

Backlinks – One way to get more backlinks, is to network with other bloggers and encourage them to post a link to your site. However, the best way still is to create content that is link worthy to gain backlinks.

Promote Your Site Offline – Ask your family, friends and people you meet at conventions or other functions to visit your website. If you don’t have business cards to handout to people you meet who ask you what you do, then get some!

Signature File – When posting in forums or even in your reply emails, be sure to include your URL in your signature file so you can direct traffic to your site that way. Put these 10 ways to get more traffic to your site to work for you and you’ll begin to see an increase in traffic. It may just be a trickle at first, but the longer you stay with it the more it grows over time.

I hope you enjoyed these 10 ways to get more traffic to your site tips. Put them to good use today, and start increasing traffic to your website tomorrow!

Until next time, be good to yourself,

    Kuldeep,

Most forum participants do not include an e-mail address in their signature file, simply because they would start receiving a deluge of emails and spam in their inbox. That’s why it is best to get involved in the forums and start developing relationships with a few key players. It also helps other forum members, provided it is a good one, to get an answer to their questions that are the same as yours.

However, since you asked me, here is my thoughts on your website:

    * You have a current page rank of 3, good start but a long ways to go…

    * You have virtually no social media representation (sharing) or activity.

    * Consider adding another sidebar to the right and include links to your blog posts, social media links, etc.

    * Consider changing the width of your text wrap area to around 900 pixels.

    * Add a blog page to your site and start blogging about pirate related stuff: Little known facts about Pirates, etc.

    * Create your own e-books on how to design your own Pirate costumes and sell these also.

    * Consider “adopting” the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as your favorite American football team, and start promoting their merchandise as an affiliate.

    * When you start writing and blogging, be sure to bookmark your blog posts to all the top bookmarking sites (Stumbleupon in particular).

    * Go to Pinterest and see how that site can help you promote products.

This should be enough to last you for awhile.

    Be good to yourself,

    James

Thanks for dropping by and making a comment, Sarah, they are always appreciated.

I actually “stumbled” (as in Stumbleupon) the Twitter contest to drive traffic to your site. It has paid off very well, too!

Look forward to hearing from you again soon.

    Be good to yourself,

    James
