As you know, commenting on blogs, forums and elsewhere is all about connecting online. However, without a few ground rules that connection can quickly turn into a “marriage” made in Hell! Conversations can quickly turn into arguments, and arguments into “knock-down-drag-outs” that discourage others from participating.
To this end, my comments policy is as follows:
You may post anonymously, although I do not recommend this primarily because you can not build quality links that way. Besides, we really want to get to know you better. I reserve the right to change this rule.
You may post follow-up comments and ask questions. If you have a question, don’t be shy about asking. More than likely, someone else has that same question. Thus, I would rather you post your question here at my blog than sent to me by email. Unfortunately, I simply do not have the time to answer questions via email.
I value you mine own opinions. Thus, you may find that you disagree with me from time to time. That’s okay. I do not ascribe to societal, political, or any other type of “correctness” mentality.
Instead, I welcome healthy and challenging discussions. However, all that I ask that if you should disagree with me—or anyone else who makes comments—please do so in a way that is not hurtful to others. Thank you.
I reserve the right to delete and/or edit comments due to spelling errors, grammatical mistakes, suspicious or unsavory backlinks, etc. I am under no obligation to publish your comments here at my blog.
Comments worthy of deletion, include:
- Those that violate or encourage others to violate my civility or any law, including intellectual property laws or SPAM (i.e. an attempt to advertise, solicit, or otherwise promote goods and services).
However, you may post a link to your site or your most recent blog post. All other links other than to your main site or blog post WILL NOT be approved!
You are the sole owner of your comments. I DO NOT own them nor do I take responsibility for them. Furthermore, I expressly disclaim any and all liability that could result from YOUR comments. By commenting on my site, you agree that you retain ALL ownership rights to what you post here, and that you also relieve me from any and all liability that could arise as a result of your postings.
You grant me a license to post your comments. This license is worldwide, irrevocable, non-exclusive, and royalty-free. You grant me the right to store, use, transmit, display, publish, reproduce, and distribute your comments in any format, including but not limited to a blog, in a book, a video, or presentation.
In short, my intent is to facilitate healthy conversations with caring, honest, and respectful people.
It is my hope that this comments policy will achieve this end.
