Damn The Economy, Full Steam Ahead!
In 1864, Union Admiral David Farragut was assigned the task of securing Mobile Bay, the center of Confederate blockade-running. The area was protected by formidable fortifications and the bay was heavily mined (mines at that time were known as torpedoes).
On August 5, 1864, Admiral Farragut gave the order to ignore the risks: “Damn the torpedoes! Full steam ahead!” The modest Confederate fleet was defeated and the forts surrendered shortly thereafter.
The key point to this story, is in Admiral Farragut’s attitude when faced with insurmountable odds from Confederate forces. By taking such bold actions, Admiral Farragut won a decisive victory. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Thus, the title of this article: “Damn the economy, full steam ahead!”
So enough already about the economy! I for one am sick and tired of hearing all the negative BS about the economy, the sad state of affairs in the United States and how it’s all going to hell in a hand-basket. To this current US President, as well as all the other elected officials and trumpeters of doom and gloom, hear this…
SHUT UP!
Listen, all this spouting off about how bad it is and how bad it’s going to get, does nothing but perpetuate the economic downhill slide. Likewise, all this negativity about our economy and the future does nothing more than destroy what’s left of consumer confidence. Not to mention the damage it does to the economy as the money supply dries up, because the money lenders “pucker up” so tight that small businesses can not get much needed loans.
And to make matters even worse, the doom and gloom causes the rest of the “economic lemmings” to follow suit and end up in a downhill free-for-all rushing headlong into the sea of depression!
Is it just poor leadership qualities? Or, is it orchestrated fear meant to rob citizen’s of their freedom and exert control over the populous?
The future will tell us which, soon enough…
In the meantime, take bold and decisive actions, quit compounding the problems by focusing on the problems, and dump the philosophy that more government involvement is the solution. It most assuredly is not, government IS the problem!
Now, if want to take control of your economic future, listen. During the Great Depression, there were more millionaires created during that time period than at any other time in the history of the world. Seriously! And as for all the bozo’s out there who say: “Well that’s just because all those greedy business people took advantage of the poor and ripped them off!”
To these folks, I say…
Get a life!
Listen, you’re either in the game working your butt off and participating in the free-market economy; rightfully building your own economic “stimulus plan” (as laid out by our founding fathers) or, you’re just another “worker-bee” building someone else’s economic dream. Now, you either have the guts to accept that fact, and that you and you alone are responsible for your own economic freedom, and NOT the government, or you don’t!
Now, as for those who succeed in rough economic times, they do so because while everyone else was “Partying hardy” during the good times – successful individuals were planning ahead, making sacrifices and waiting for the right time to take advantage of opportunities as they presented themselves.
What they were not doing, however, was hanging around the office water cooler, or down at the local beer joint drinking losers Kool-Aide, griping and complaining about what everyone else was griping and complaining about, or, whoever wasn’t in the room at the time. Again, the difference is in the choices we make and not the economy…

So the choice is yours. You can either become the next great American success story, or you can just become another statistic.
The choice is yours to make, and yours alone…
So, “Damn the economy, and full steam ahead!” towards your economic freedom!

Law of Attraction is so real… These past days i was looking to that, i’m a songwriter, and sometimes i write some stof that i want, but like now i realize that most of what i wrote happened… but not really on the same way as i wanted it.. but it happended… I just read all this article.. and it is so true.. i like it alot, that helped me to understand more on that.. thanks you.
