If you’re one of the over 50 Million bloggers online, and getting more traffic to your blog is important, than you need to know more about blog traffic exchanges. More than likely, if you’ve been marketing online for awhile, you probably recall the wildly popular traffic exchange programs and banner exchange programs. Obviously, with such a large number of bloggers online, it was only a matter of time before blog traffic exchange programs started popping up.
Today’s blog traffic exchange programs work much better than the old traffic exchange programs ever did, simply because of the “personableness” associated with blogs, as well as bloggers in general. Getting set up with one or more of these exchange programs should be a part of your overall strategy to increase blog traffic, even if for no other reason than for the increase in exposure your blog could get.
Having said this, however, there are some blog traffic exchange programs that really aren’t worth the investment of your time. Which, by the way, could be your biggest investment (time) if you should decide to go the “free” route using blog exchanges. In some instances you’ll be able to buy credits to increase traffic, but in order to get free traffic you’ll have to visit other member’s blogs.
The typical going rate of exposure for blog exchanges is one visitor for every two blogs that you visit. However, one drawback to using exchanges is that visitors are not targeted. This means that there is no guarantee that your blog visitors will have any interest in what you blog about.
Also, if your blog is targeted towards a very specific niche, you probably won’t do well with blog traffic exchange programs. However, if your blog is more of a general interest (isn’t specific to any particular niche market) then blog traffic exchange programs could work very well for you.
One such blog traffic exchange program is, none other than, Blog Traffic Exchange (catchy name, eh?) Blog Traffic Exchange offers an “out-of-the-box” organic method for building traffic and refining the user experience. Here’s how it works:
Links are randomly rotated locally per page load, and globally across every 24 hour cycle. And although a traffic balancing algorithm does reward those blogs sending the most diverse traffic into the exchange with a higher frequency of placement, relevancy to the reader is NEVER compromised.
After installing the Related Websites plugin (and inputting the required API key), you’ll begin to see the plugin’s value. There’s also a “Pro Account” which allows you to receive access to detailed traffic data, so you can have a clear idea about the exchange of incoming and outgoing links ($20 a month is cheap for this service!) Blog Traffic Exchange is a really great service, and the content (aka- visitors) IS related to what ever your blog is about.
Another blog exchange program worth considering is BlogClicker. As stated previously, you receive one visitor, or credit, for every two blogs that you visit. You also have the option of purchasing credits instead of visiting other blogs if you wish. Two other blog traffic exchange programs are Blog Crowd and Blog Exchange.
Probably one of the better blog traffic exchange programs available today is Blog Explosion. Like many other traffic exchange programs, Blog Explosion is free to join (only one account available per person). However, if you have multiple blogs, you can add more than one blog per account. Also, you earn 10% of the traffic that every new member you refer earns. Blog Explosion includes full statistical reports that you can view, as well as many other member features and tools.
Blog Explosion also has monthly contests including: free blog visitors as prizes, a monthly traffic lottery and a nifty little perk called the “Battle of the Blogs!” In addition to these blog traffic promotions, you can also win daily mystery credits. Did I forget to mention the member’s profile directory where members can search blogs of interest, chat rooms, a Podcast directory, and a knowledge directory? You can even rent space on your blog to other members!
If you couldn’t tell by now, I’m kind of partial to Blog Explosion! In fact, over 30,000 bloggers choose Blog Explosion over other blog traffic exchange programs online. Remember, if you are trying to build up a readership for a niche blog, blog traffic exchange programs may not work well for you. However, if your blog is more of a general interest, and especially if your a blogging newbie; who wants to get immediate exposure and more blog traffic, then blog traffic exchange programs could just be what you’ve been looking for!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, be sure to check back often for more updates. As always, we appreciate your feedback, comments and questions.
Until next time,
Godspeed
